Abdominal Workouts at Home Made Easy

Abdominal workouts at home can be just as successful as workouts at the gym can be. There's no reason why you need a gym and tons of expensive equipment in order to succeed with a workout. This is especially true with your abdominal muscles which can be effectively targeted with a variety of bodyweight movements and stretches.

You can begin your abdominal workout by performing the pushup plank and a few of its many variations. The standard or classic plank is performed in a pushup position, only with your arms on the floor instead of your palms. You hold the top pose of the pushup for 30 seconds, keeping your abs clenched the entire time and then rest for 30 seconds before repeating the movement.

One of the variations of the classic plank is the incline plank. This is the same, only with your feet elevated off the floor to make the movement more difficult. You can use a workout bench, a chair or just about anything for the incline. Another variation is the side plank, performed on each side of your body as you prop yourself up one elbow. When you're ready for an even larger challenge you can move to the walk-out plank.

If you were going to invest in any piece of equipment for your home then a simple pull-up bar will provide some great opportunities. For example you can perform hanging leg raises by hanging from the pull-up and raising your knees to your chest while leaning your hips backward so that your shins end up parallel to the floor. This is an exercise that targets every piece of your midsection and will really help you get the abs you've been dreaming of.

Whether you don't have time to get to the gym or you can't afford a membership, don't toss your fitness goals out the window. Instead, try these at home exercises for your abs in order to see phenomenal results. You will build strength and you'll feel great about your body.
